Well, we started this year's show season off with a bang!  Students Sarah riding Zack
and Caitlin riding Noel made their debut in the Main Arena at the USET of all places, both riding Intro tests A&B, although someone forgot to tell Zack that it wasn't a Prix Caprilli--he jumped right out of the ring...TWICE!   (It's a good thing Sarah has a good sense of humor!)
Student Stephanie joined in at the next shows riding Noel, getting a 70% in Intro test B!
Great Start, guys!

What a wonderful Danish Warmblood Inspection we had here at the farm!

Our 4 year old mare, Sandra Lee (Sinatra Song x Legata-Rambo) is now of RDH (Riding Horse) status with an overall score of 8! Her younger sister, 2 year old Lela (Solos Landtinus x Legata) received her DS status, and will try for her R when she is under saddle next time the Danes return.

Our new friends Brian and Charlotte Bech-Hansen of Tallin Farm had a successful inspection as well with their two jumper mares--one RHD and one DH, and their filly presented for Foal Grading.

The weather was fantastic and the company was fabulous. Peter and Adrie offer their most heart-felt thanks to all the wonderful volunteers who so generously donated their time and efforts to make this inspection such a success.

Until next time...!!!

Nearfield Farm's superstar had to be Frankie this year--Winning the IBC Danish Warmblood Class with a 83.9% at NEDA's Fall Festival, and getting a 10 for his walk!!  Frankie also Won the 4 Year Old Suitability Class at Dressage at Devon, and rounded out the year by receiving the Reserve Champion North American Danish Warmblood All Breeds Award for 4&5 Year Old Materiale Stallions/Geldings!

Holy Moly, Frankie!

Lela had a busy fall this year-in addition at her approval this year as a Danish Warmblood DS, Lela placed 6th in NEDA's Breeder's Futurity, placed 6th in her 2 Year Old Filly Class at Dressage at Devon and beat both her siblings in the IBC Danish Warmblood Class at DAD in heavy rain and boot-sucking mud.

Not bad for a growing girl!

2014 was a busy year for Sandy.  She achieved her Riding Horse status (RDH) with NADWA at our Danish Warmblood Inspection this year, and only 4 days later she placed 2nd in her IBC Danish Warmblood Class with a 78.2% & placed 2nd in her Mare Materiale Class at NEDA's Fall Festival. Sandy proved to be a calm competitor in the show ring at the FEI 4 Year Old level as well, finishing out the year by receiving the Champion North American Danish Warmblood Association's
All Breeds Award for both FEI 4 Year Olds as well as Champion 4&5 Year Old Materiale Mare!

What a great start, Sandy!

This year's sad news:  The loss of Adrie's Mazeppa.  A fabulous, funny, silly horse, he was a true leader of the herd and lover of all cats and people.  'Zeppa' made all sorts of friends wherever he went--mostly by being a 16.3 hand pesky pocket-pony!  Few were able to resist his insistent charms and he will be missed by all here.

"Zeppa"
(aged 21)

Wonderful, wonderful, silly horse.

Caitlin & Stephanie were able to experience Lendon Gray's Dressage4Kids Youth Dressage Festival this year as members of the ESDCTA Team.  A bit of a rocky trip, due to Miss Adrie's unfortunate absence.)  What a great job these kids did, competing at such a large show for the first time without their trainer to help them through it!  A shout out to Caitlin for being awarded the ESDCTA's LYDF grant for this event.

Adrie is very pleased to announce that she is the coach for the Rutgers DressageTeam!
Can't wait to see what the Inter-collegiate competition season will bring with these enthusiastic riders!

Adrie's under saddle horses took a break from showing this year, but Lela did well in her in-hand filly classes, winning Reserve Champion Breeder's Futurity 2015 with a 78.40% at NEAD's Fall Festival!

This year we have lost Adrie's father, Karst Hoogsteen.  Karst so enjoyed being part of our farm; re-living his days of plowing potato fields with his uncles teams of Friesians and making hay by hand (!)  Father, friend and 'Opa', all here will miss your help and support.
